Tank Inspection and Analysis

Course description

This course is designed for professionals dealing with tank analysis and calibration. In the past the common method of strapping tapes and tables were used but with the introduction of laser scanning technology, the new workflow has become popular. As handling the point cloud is very difficult with extra tools, As-built for AutoCAD is utilised to mimic the role of measurement tapes and strapping table.

Students will learn how to:

• Cylinder fitting to tank
• Unwrapping tank to rectangle
• Perform surface Analysis for deformation
• Creating deviation (heat) map
• Creating the matrix of deviations
• Creating the strapping table
• Volume calibration

Prerequisites:

It is assumed the attendee already knows the basics of As-build for AutoCAD concepts and tools and familiar with the general concepts of Tank analysis and calibration using tape and creating strapping tables.
