Description
Seafloor HyDrone — AutoNav Configuration Bundle (Technical Description)
The Seafloor HyDrone AutoNav Configuration is an autonomous, survey-grade unmanned surface vessel (USV) engineered for precise bathymetric mapping and environmental monitoring in inland and near-shore waters. Its dual-pontoon catamaran design provides hydrodynamic stability, while the AutoNav control suite enables fully automated mission execution with minimal operator intervention. The system is optimized for integration with GNSS positioning systems, single-beam echo sounders, and data-logging platforms used in hydrographic surveying, dredging support, and scientific monitoring.
AutoNav capability allows users to predefine survey lines, waypoint missions, and boundary-constrained navigation patterns. Once deployed, the HyDrone autonomously maintains course, speed, and track-line tolerance using closed-loop control algorithms and real-time GNSS heading and position feedback. This ensures consistent, high-density data acquisition—even across long transects or variable water conditions. The included four-battery set provides extended endurance suitable for multi-hour missions and multi-site project days.
Key Technical Features — HyDrone AutoNav Platform
Autonomous Navigation & Control
-
AutoNav Mission Engine: Performs autonomous route following using preprogrammed line plans, waypoint lists, or grid patterns.
-
Closed-Loop Steering & Speed Control: Continuously adjusts thrust and rudder to maintain track-line accuracy under varying current and wind load.
-
GNSS-Based Heading & Positioning: Supports high-precision GNSS receivers for sub-meter or centimeter-level navigation (depending on paired hardware).
-
Mission Monitoring: Real-time telemetry links provide vessel position, speed, battery status, and mission progress to the operator’s control laptop/tablet.
Hull & Propulsion System
-
Catamaran Hull Design: Dual HDPE or composite pontoons minimize roll, pitch, and hydrodynamic noise—improving sonar measurement consistency.
-
Optimized Propulsion: Twin or single-thrust configuration (depending on model revision) provides smooth control for low-speed survey operations.
-
Shallow-Draft Construction: Suitable for extremely shallow environments such as ponds, channels, tailings, and flood plains.
Payload & Sensor Integration
-
Universal Mounting Deck: Supports single-beam echo sounders (200 kHz, 30 kHz, or other frequencies), GNSS antennas, IMUs, and auxiliary sensors.
-
Modular Cabling: Internal routing available for GNSS receivers, depth sounders, and logging systems.
-
Plug-and-Play Compatibility: Works seamlessly with leading hydrographic survey sensors (Seafloor, Odom/Teledyne, Trimble, Hemisphere, etc.).
Portability & Field Deployment
-
Lightweight Construction: Easily transported in a pickup, SUV, or small trailer; deployable by a single field operator.
-
Rapid Setup: AutoNav missions can be loaded in minutes; vessel deploys directly from shoreline or dock without specialized equipment.
-
Extended Endurance: Four included high-capacity batteries support multi-hour autonomous missions with minimal downtime.
